The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for safely operating a sit-down propane forklift with capacities up to 36,000 lbs and driving yard mules to move, load, unload, and stage freight. This role supports freight forwarding and warehouse operations by ensuring the safe and efficient handling of oversized, heavy, and high-value cargo while maintaining compliance with company safety standards. Responsibilities Operate sit-down propane forklifts with capacities up to 36,000 lbs to load, unload, transport, and stage freight. Drive yard mules to move trailers and containers within the facility and yard. Handle oversized, heavy, and specialized cargo safely and efficiently. Load and unload freight from trucks, trailers, containers, and flatbeds. Perform daily equipment inspections and report maintenance or safety concerns. Secure loads and verify freight is properly positioned for transport and storage. Follow freight forwarding procedures, shipping documentation, and warehouse protocols. Assist with inventory control, freight verification, and cargo inspections. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. Comply with all OSHA, company, and customer safety requirements. Qualifications Previous experience operating sit-down propane forklifts, including heavy-capacity forklifts up to 36,000 lbs. Experience driving yard mules and moving trailers in a warehouse or yard environment. Freight forwarding, logistics, port, or transportation industry experience preferred. Ability to safely handle oversized, heavy, and high-value freight. Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and equipment inspections. Ability to read shipping documents and follow work instructions. Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment Reliable attendance and strong communication skills.
